Drawing on Newly-Found Inspiration

Inspiration can come from many places. Earlier in this Blogging 101 course, I read the blog of Ingrid at Ingrid On The Grid and saw her talent for drawing. I used to draw all the time, but as I have gotten older, day-to-day life has gotten in the way of creating with pencil and paper. Seeing Ingrid’s work made me think about my previous drawings, which I would like to share below. The picture quality is not the best because they are in frames. These were all drawn probably 20 years ago now. When I find some time, I would love to drag out the pencils and give it another try.

I have typically created my drawings by using the cosmetic ads that you see throughout women’s magazines due to the photography in those ads usually being very nice. I have found that it is much more difficult to draw people who you know. I tried to draw my wife once and it didn’t turn out the way I had hoped. She liked it, but to me, I failed to capture the true essence of my wife, thus I had failed. I hope you enjoy these works. If I create new ones, I will post them up for your review.
