Blog Goals

My first assignment for my WordPress.com Blogging University course is to set three goals for my blog.  Over the past couple of years, I have never really thought much about goals for my blog, but, recently, I have been a bit discouraged. I have recently written some decent blog posts and hardly anyone even saw them, which made me ask myself if I was just wasting my time.

My three goals would be:

  1. Try to get up to 250 followers by the end of 2017. If time and effort are being spent on these posts, it would be nice to know that someone is seeing them.
  2. Develop a more precise focus for the blog. Since my blog’s inception, I have pretty much written about whatever was on my mind. I guess it was a bit therapeutic for me. It would be nice to know that people are seeing your posts and reacting to them in some way.
  3. Find a way to make a little bit of cash from my efforts. Yes, I like to write and be creative, but it would be nice to see a little bit of a monetary reward for my efforts. I don’t want to be a sell out for the almighty dollar, but a couple of nickels now and then wouldn’t hurt.

  1. Hey!

We have very similar goals. I do just want to warn you not to change the focus of your blog if that’s not what your gut tells you.

I made that mistake before and while my blog covers a multitude of topics, I know this is the road my gut is telling me to take.

No matter where you decide to take your blog, know people will see your words and they’ll reach the souls of many even if they never comment.

Never give up. That’s the one piece of advice I’d give and I’ve learned it the hard way.

Great post man, now go reach those goals! 🙂

  2. These Blogging University courses were so helpful. I’ve applied so many of their suggestions and it’s really paid off (not monetarily however) but I’m not sure how to do that with blogging… Anyway, keep up the good work!
